Uggie To Retire From Film
Uggie, the scene-stealing pooch from “The Artist,” will retire from film acting after awards season ends, his trainer said. Sarah Clifford of the Animal Savvy animal actor agency in Los Angeles told The Hollywood Reporter the 10-year-old Jack Russell will continue to appear in short films and commercials, but not movies. “We don’t force our dogs to do this,” Clifford said. “And it always has to be fun for them. Uggie’s still enjoying it, but he’s getting up there and he’s slowing down a little.” “The Artist” was nominated for 10 Oscars. The awards will be handed out February 26th. Uggie took the stage with his co-stars when “The Artist” won Best Musical or Comedy Feature at the Golden Globe Awards earlier this month.
