Deen, known for packing in the butter in her recipes, has confirmed
that she has Type 2 diabetes. Deen also said she’s the new paid
spokesperson for a diabetes drug company. She told “Today” show’s Al
Roker that she was diagnosed three years ago. “I’m working along with a
very reputable pharmaceutical company, I’m working on a program called
‘Diabetes In A New Light,’ you can go to our website,” says Paula. “I’m
gonna be there for you, I’m going to help you manage every day of your
life with this, because it can be done.” Shortly after the announcement,
Anthony Bourdain tweeted: “Thinking of getting into the leg-breaking
business so I can profitably sell crutches later.” Last summer, when
Bourdain called Deen the “most dangerous person to America” and said
that she’s “proud of the fact” that her food is bad for people.
