Turning Out For ‘Idol’

It’s not quite an “American Idol” record, but it’s close. The crowd of 16,000 in Nashville and 17,000 in East Rutherford, New Jersey, are among the biggest the show has ever seen. The only location that drew more people was Washington, D.C. for Season 4, when 22,000 showed up. Lowering the age from 16 to 15 years old could be one of the reasons so many are auditioning. Ryan Seacrest says maybe because “people are sensing that Season 10 is a historic moment.” There have been four auditions so far for the 10th season. There are two more to go – tomorrow in Austin, Texas, and on August 19th in San Francisco.
