Chile’s Bites Back At Steve Carell

Steve Carell betrayed Chili’s for Outback Steakhouse’s Bloomin’ Onion last week, but Chili’s President Wyman T. Roberts is focusing on the chain’s loyal fans. “You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal that was displayed the other night and you’re worthy of so much more,” Roberts wrote in a letter posted on Facebook to “United States and Chili’s Guests.” Roberts was responding to the spoof of the LeBron James/ESPN press conference that aired during the 2010 ESPY awards. In the skit, Carell – a longtime Chili’s fan – detailed his gut-wrenching decision to take his appetite to the Outback. Carell said he and Chili’s “had a good run,” but that the 2,000-calorie deep-fried Vidalia was just too enticing. Roberts, rocked by Carell’s “heartless and callous actions,” offered a thinly-veiled threat of slapping Carell with the “curse” until he “does right by Chili’s guests.” Chili’s continued its good-natured assault on Carell for his wandering appetite with a video posted on YouTube.
