Not only has Jaden Smith given the competition at the box office a solid butt kicking last weekend, he’s also giving his father, Will Smith, a run for his money. The success of Jaden’s “The Karate Kid” didn’t do better than his dad’s films, but it did surpass most of them. “Karate Kid” took in $56 million during its first weekend in theaters. That’s bigger debut numbers for all but two films done by Will Smith. “I Am Legend” took in $77.2 million and “Hancock” took in $62.6 million. Will and Jada Pinkett Smith produced “The Karate Kid.”
