Frances Bay, who played Adam Sandler’s grandmother in “Happy Gilmore,” has died. She was 92. Bay died Thursday at a Los Angeles area hospital after being diagnosed with pneumonia. Most famous for playing sweet grandmothers, appearing in more than 50 films and 100 television series, Bay is probably best remembered for playing the woman robbed of her marble rye on marble rye on “Seinfeld” and Adam Sandler’s grandma in “Happy Gilmore.” Bay first appeared on screen at the age of 59, after a long tenure as housewife. Her most recent part was a recurring role on ABC’s “The Middle” as Aunt Ginny.
