“The Hurt Locker” and “Up in the Air” won the Writers Guild of America Awards for Best Original Screenplay and Best Adapted Screenplay, respectively, on Saturday. On March 7th, both “The Hurt Locker” and “Up in the Air” are up for the same screenplay honors at the Academy Awards. The third winner was Mark Monroe, who won Best Documentary Screenplay for “The Cove,” a study of Japanese fishing operations that slaughter dolphins.
