Antonio Banderas To Play Picasso
Antonio Banderas will play surrealist painter Pablo Picasso in “33 Days,” a biopic that charts the artist’s emotional struggle while working on his masterpiece mural “Guernica.” The film will also examine the relationship between Picasso and his French lover Dora Marr, who was with him at the time he made “Guernica” – his reaction to the destruction of the titular town during the Spanish civil war. Picasso – who died in 1973 – is a character who has long been close to Antonio – they come from the same city, Malaga, on Spain’s southern coast. Antonio says, “I was born four blocks from where he was born. It has always fascinated me.” The film is slated to be shot in Paris and Guernica next summer.

It had a lot of different things that came with it.” For example, doubts about her age, whether or not she’s a failure as a partner to her husband Jason, and if the same would have happened if he’d wed someone younger, Frankel said. “Until you become a woman, you don’t know the things that come with being a woman,” Frankel said. “I’m 41, and, I don’t know, it’s not really my choice. It’s not really my option, and the window’s closing, and it’s something I’m dealing with.”

Ruby Slippers To Be Restored
The ruby slippers Judy Garland wore as Dorothy in 1939’s “The Wizard of Oz” will be removed from their display at Washington’s Smithsonian to be restored. The shoes, which were donated anonymously in 1979 to the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, need touch-ups in advance of the forthcoming “American Stories” exhibition, the museum said. The slippers will join more than 100 objects from the museum’s collection, including Benjamin Franklin’s walking stick, a sunstone capital from the Mormon temple at Nauvoo, Illinois, Abraham Lincoln’s gold pocket watch and a Kermit the Frog puppet. The “American Stories” exhibit opens April 5th. The museum said the fragile ruby slippers, like many movie costumes and props, were made cheaply and quickly – and were meant to last only for the duration of the film shoot. The shoes had been displayed under a red-tinted light to enhance the color.

Cheryl Tiegs Fired From ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

Cheryl Tiegs Fired From ‘Celebrity Apprentice’
The fifth season of Donald Trump's “Celebrity Apprentice” kicked off with a bang last night. The men’s team was Adam Carolla, Arsenio Hall, Clay Aiken, Dee Snider, George Takei, Lou Ferrigno, Michael Andretti, Paul Teutul Sr, and Penn Jillette. They picked Paul as their project manager and decided on “Unanimous” as their name. The women’s group was Aubrey O’Day, Cheryl Tiegs, Dayana Mendoza, Debbie Gibson, Victoria Gotti, Teresa Giudice, Lisa Lampanelli, Patricia Velasquez and Tia Carrere. Patricia was named project manager, and they named their team “Forte.” The teams were tasked with raising the most money in dueling delis. The men won after drawing a huge crowd thanks to showman Jillette's theatrics and photo ops with fans on the street, but sales were bleak. Even with their $35,000 prize for beating the women with their tasty offering in a contest on the “Rachael Ray” show, Forté beat them by $65,000 in sales and donations – until Teutul Sr. persuaded one of his buddies to donate $305,000. The women raised $126,000; the men’s total was $367,120. In the end, Cheryl Tiegs was fired without drama. "I don't know if this [show] is right for me," she said. Meanwhile, the men started off missing a team member – race car driver Marco Andretti, grandson of racing legend Mario Andretti. The day before filming was set to begin, a horrific October 16th accident at Las Vegas Motor Speedway took the life of Marco's good friend and fellow driver, Dan Wheldon. Marco, already reeling from the death of his maternal grandfather days earlier, was so shaken that he was unable to appear on the show. Without hesitation, his father, Michael, stepped in to take his place.

The Golden Collar Awards announced its top dogs Monday night – and the big prize, the one which the event seems to have been created, went to Uggie from “The Artist,” to the surprise of nobody. The Golden Collar Awards were launched by the Dog News Daily digital media and marketing company only a couple of months ago, after Uggie started getting lots of attention on the awards circuit. Uggie, a 10-year-old Jack Russell terrier, nabbed two of the five nominations for Best Dog in a Theatrical Film, both for his performance as the Dog in “The Artist” and for his less-heralded role as Queenie in “Water for Elephants.”

Tareq Salahi Sues Neal Schon For $50 Million
Tareq Salahi is suing Journey rocker Neal Schon for $50 million for ruining his life. Salahi filed suit in Warren County, Virginia, yesterday for emotional distress and other claims. The suit alleges Tareq and his wife Michaele were on track to make a huge fortune together from multiple reality TV shows before Schon messed everything up by running off with Michaele. Tareq also says Schon waged an X-rated campaign to humiliate him, emailing a picture of his penis and calling him on the phone to brag, “I’m [sleeping with] your wife!” In the suit, Tareq claims, “The act was a metaphorical slap in the face.” Tareq claims Schon also humiliated him in public because the publicity would increase interest in Journey’s tour. Tareq is demanding at least $50 million for emotional distress, conspiracy to defame, interfering with a contract, defamation and punitive damages. He filed the suit the same day Journey released a new video starring Michaele. In the video for “Resonate,” Neal and Michaele frolic on the beach and grope each other in a PG-13 make-out session.

Nielsen Chastises Oprah Over Twitter Plea

Nielsen Chastises Oprah Over Twitter Plea
Oprah Winfrey has drawn criticism after asking her fans via Twitter to tune into her OWN network to help give it a ratings boost. She specifically targeted those who provide information on their viewing habits to ratings agency Nielsen. “Every 1 who can, please turn to OWN, especially if u have a Nielsen box. Commercial Grammy people ... u can turn to OWN,” Winfrey tweeted to her fans on Sunday night as her show “Oprah’s Next Chapter” squared off against The Grammys. Twitter users were quick to fire back at Winfrey, accusing her of using the site to beg for viewers. Nielsen also said that move may have been a violation of policies. “‘Desperate’ not ever a part of my vocab,” she tweeted. “Just making a request, since I can’t watch myself. Choice is yours.” Nielsen says networks – including network heads – aren’t allowed to specifically target Nielsen subscribers with any attempts to change their viewing habits. The company said, “We take any violation of our policy seriously and will work with clients to resolve the situation.”

Michael Anthony Moore, a fellow comic book artist, filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court. In the complaint, Moore says he was duped into assigning his interest in the material over to Kirkman. Moore has received very little compensation and has not been able to access profit statements from properties including “Walking Dead,” he says. Kirkman and Moore were apparently good friends and collaborators for many years before Kirkman became a big-time name as a creator and writer of “The Walking Dead.” Kirkman calls the allegations “ridiculous.”

Super Bowl Tightrope Guy Says His Family Jewels Are A-OK

Super Bowl Tightrope Guy Says His Family Jewels Are A-OK
Madonna wasn’t the only entertainer during the Sunday Super Bowl halftime show 2012 bringing mad skills to the TV, Andy Lewis did too. He was the man bouncing on the tightrope in a Toga costume. The unique sport known as slacklining will go down as a first in Super Bowl halftime history. The line looked like a wire on television, but it was a little bigger. According to the slacklining sponsor at the Super Bowl, Gibbons Slackline, it wasn’t a tightrope, but rather a 2-inch wide trampoline known as a slackline. Lewis, who repeatedly bounced HARD on his crotch during his show-stealing routine, says his man parts are just fine – and he understands why people would be concerned. “I’ve been doing it for years,” he tells TMZ, “and over time your [testicles] harden to steel.” The daredevil says he doesn’t wear a cup but notes he’s very careful about “placement.” You can find out more about the sport at www.gibbonslacklines.com.

M.I.A. Gives Super Bowl The Finger

M.I.A. Gives Super Bowl The Finger
There was no wardrobe malfunction during the Super Bowl halftime show. But there was a finger – from M.I.A. She was one of the guest performers during Madonna’s halftime show. The British singer flipped the bird as the camera came in close at the end of Madonna’s new single, “Give Me All Your Luvin’.” NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy apologized to fans. He says the obscene gesture was “completely inappropriate” and “very disappointing.” The league blames NBC for a failure in their delay system. The network says the NFL hired the talent and produced the halftime show. The network also apologized for not being quick enough on the delay button and said they were less than a second from catching it. According to TMZ, if the FCC does inflict a fine, M.I.A. will have to pay it. She reportedly signed a contract with the NFL for the halftime performance in which she agreed to indemnify the NFL for any fines it might be forced to pay due to her actions. The Parents Television Council released a statement on the incident saying, “It is unfortunate that a spectacular sporting event was overshadowed once again by broadcasting the selfish acts of a desperate performer.”

Super Bowl Draws Record 111.3 Million Viewers

Super Bowl Draws Record 111.3 Million Viewers
For the third consecutive year, the Super Bowl set a record as the most-watched television show in U.S. history. The Nielsen Co. said that an estimated 111.3 million people watched the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots on NBC Sunday night. That narrowly beat the 111 million who watched Green Bay’s win over Pittsburgh last year. The game wasn’t over until Tom Brady’s last-second heave into the end zone dropped onto the turf. That play itself had the biggest audience of any play in the game, according to TiVo. Nielsen said 117.7 million people were watching during the last half hour of the game. The last two Super Bowls, along with the 2010 game between New Orleans and Indianapolis and the finale of “M*A*S*H” in 1983, are the only programs to exceed 100 million viewers in U.S. television history. Meanwhile, Madonna’s halftime show was seen by an estimated 114 million people – a higher average than the game itself – and was the most-watched Super Bowl halftime entertainment show on record, Nielsen said.
