David Simon, creator of “The Wire” and “Treme,” has been awarded the prestigious MacArthur Foundation “genius grant.” The MacArthur grant awards each recipient with $500,000 in “no strings attached” support over the next five years. The purpose is to financially support great minds so that they can pursue projects that might lack financial backing.
