“Avatar” director James Cameron is set to shoot a 3D documentary on the Xikrin-Kayapo, an indigenous tribe of the Amazon. Cameron, who has already spent some time with the tribe, will return to the Amazon to capture the everyday life of the indigenous people, who currently face a grave threat with the proposed construction of the massive Belo Monte hydroelectric dam. Cameron hopes the documentary, which will be included in a new version of the “Avatar” DVD, will raise awareness for the tribe’s cause.
