Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien have not talked since Conan did his last NBC show last Friday. Leno told Oprah Winfrey yesterday that “it didn’t seem appropriate” to speak to O’Brien while everything was in upheaval at NBC. But Jay says he and Conan might talk when “things cool down.” He said the whole thing “was a huge mess.” Leno doesn’t think what happened to O’Brien was “fair” – but added he’s not to blame. He said Conan’s ratings are the real reason he’s gone, citing a 49% drop as proof. Leno added that he’s glad to have his “dream job” back – but regrets “it wasn’t handled better.” Leno is scheduled to return to the “Tonight” show on March 1st. O’Brien also has a standing offer to be on “Oprah” but his appearance hasn’t been confirmed.
