Miss Universe Candidate Ousted Over Cheater Ads

Sophie Froment was booted from the Miss Universe Canada pageant after it was discovered she appeared in TV commercials for an extramarital dating website. The 21-year-old law student lost her place in the competition Saturday after pageant officials learned she taped commercials for Ashley Madison, a website for people seeking to have affairs. Although the ads never ran in Canada – because they were rejected by the government’s advertising review committee for not meeting community standards – they did air in the United States. Someone brought them to the attention of pageant officials.
