Danny Glover Among Protestors Arrested In Maryland

Danny Glover was among a dozen people arrested during a labor union protest on Friday at the Maryland headquarters of a food service company called Sodexo. Police said Glover and others stepped over yellow police tape and were asked to step back three times. When they refused, they were arrested, issued citations for trespassing and released. They face a $1,000 fine or 90 days in jail. The Service Employees International Union was protesting what it calls Sodexo’s unfair and illegal treatment of workers. Sodexo says the union was spreading misinformation. Sodexo made more than a billion dollars profit in 2009, but pays its U.S. workers as little as $7.50 an hour. It offers no affordable health insurance for two-thirds of its employees, according to the union.
