Straight, Gay Couple Lose Virginity On ‘Glee’

Last night’s episode of the popular Fox comedy “Glee” featured two couples – the heterosexual Finn and Rachel and the homosexual Kurt and Blaine – losing their virginity. The episode sparked controversy even before it hit the air. EW’s PopWatch described the episode, titled “The First Time,” as “incredibly moving” and said the sex scenes were “handled very delicately.” But television watchdog group the Parents Television Council is outraged by the controversial storyline and what it says is a “celebration” of teen sex. “The fact that ‘Glee’ intends to not only broadcast, but celebrate children having sex is reprehensible. The gender of the high school characters involved is irrelevant. Teen sex is now more prevalent on TV than adult sex and ‘Glee’ is only playing into that trend,” PTC President Tim said.

Young TV Actor Charged In Burglary Effort

Actor Kesun Mitchell Loder, whose television credits include “CSI” and “ER,” faces a court hearing in Wilmington, North Carolina, on charges he attempted a burglary at a mobile phone store. The 18-year-old was arrested on charges of attempted breaking and entering, possession of burglary tools and carrying a concealed weapon. Loder’s acting stage name is K’Sun Ray. A court hearing is scheduled next week. Police say Loder was arrested last month after cutting an alarm system cable and trying to enter a mobile phone store through a side door. Employees confronted Loder and he ran away, but was caught by a police officer.

Court Won’t Hear ‘Ghost Hunters’ Appeal

The Supreme Court won’t hear an appeal from some television networks being sued by a paranormal investigator who claims his idea was stolen and turned into the show “Ghost Hunters.” Without comment, the court turned away an appeal from NBC Universal, Inc., Universal Television Networks and Pilgrim Films & Television, Inc. Parapsychologist Larry Montz and producer Daena Smoller unsuccessfully shopped around an idea for a show about paranormal investigators in 1981. “Ghost Hunters” appeared on the Sci Fi Channel - now known as SyFy in 2004. Montz and Smoller sued in federal court. The courts threw out their copyright claims, but the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed that they could sue for breach of an implied contract and breach of confidence claims.

Another Dugger On The Way

Word that the population just hit 7 billion isn’t slowing down one family. The TLC reality show “19 Kids and Counting” may soon need a new name. Arkansas couple Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar appeared with their clan on NBC’s “Today” show yesterday and announced they are expecting their 20th child in April. Forty-five-year-old Michelle Duggar said she’s in good physical shape and that she’s not worried, despite complications during her last pregnancy that led to the premature birth of their youngest child two years ago. She says she’s made it through her first trimester safely. The couple doesn’t use birth control. Michelle says she didn’t necessarily expect to get pregnant again and that she and her husband are excited to welcome the new addition to the family.

Ethan Zohn Finishes NYC Marathon

The recent news that Ethan Zohn’s cancer had returned “completely filled [him] with fear and anger and anxiety,” the “Survivor” champ said. But instead of running scared, he ran a marathon. Ethan finished the New York City Marathon yesterday with an unofficial time of 4:20:46, just minutes after last year’s time of 4:16. “Cancer’s not going to slow me down,” the reality star says, “and it’s not going to slow anyone else down. I’m going to continue to charge forward and do the things that I love.” Ethan didn’t race alone. He captained a team of 70 runners and fundraisers – including some of his costars from this season of “The Amazing Race” – for his Grassroots Soccer charity, which combats the AIDS epidemic in Africa. Ethan also had an “incredible support network” cheering him along the arduous 26.2-mile course, including family and friends as well as girlfriend and fellow “Survivor” winner Jenna Morasca. While most marathoners will be resting this week after the grueling race, Ethan’s got another round of chemo scheduled for tomorrow.

‘American Idol’s’ William Hung Gets A New Police Gig

America’s favorite “American Idol” reject has found a new gig with the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department. After his Season 3 audition performance in 2004 of Ricky Martin’s “She Bangs,” William Hung became a viral hit and received a cult-like following, which led him to numerous talk show appearances, three albums, and his primetime television show debut on Fox’s “Arrested Development.” Now, Hung has made a career shift. According to TMZ, Hung is working for the LA County Sherriff’s Department as a Technical Crime Analyst, analyzing trends and patterns in crimes. This can help law enforcement deploy resources in a more effective manner, as well as playing a role in apprehending suspects, solving crimes, and formulating crime prevention strategies. A photo obtained by TMZ shows Hung teaching in front of a class last week at a training facility. Before auditioning for “Idol,” Hung was a student at UC Berkeley, studying civil engineering.
